The movement is automatic, so the seconds hand sweeps rather than ticks and the watch winds itself as you wear it. The case is stainless steel, finished by hand — brushed surfaces stay brushed and polished edges keep a clean line. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 50 m water resistance for daily wear.
Men’s sizing. At 36mm it wears true to the original’s proportions. Every piece is checked and photographed before dispatch; the watch you receive is the one in the QC images we send you.

How does the day wheel change?
The day changes at midnight by an internal wheel mechanism, not a setting function. You cannot advance it separately—only set it when you adjust the time at midnight.
Is the date window polished or matte?
The window itself is sapphire, but the surrounding ring on the dial is matte to reduce reflections from light hitting the aperture. We photograph this detail during QC.
What colour is the dial on this 128239?
Silver dial with a slightly textured finish. Unlike the 228235 (chocolate) or 228238 (silver with sunburst), this one is a simple matte silver—formal and understated.
Can I change the strap to leather?
This version comes on the President bracelet only. You can fit leather straps to Day-Date cases at a watchmaker, but the lugs are designed for the bracelet, and removal should be done by a professional.

What the Day-Date is
The Day-Date is Rolex's President, the reference that defined formal watch design from the 1950s onwards. It shows the full day and date, a leather-like dial (usually precious metal, but this 128239 is stainless steel), and a presidential bracelet that flows smoothly from case to lug. A watch that signals understated authority.
How our clone follows it
This 36mm runs 904L stainless steel with a sapphire crystal and automatic movement. We check the dial alignment and centering of the date window closely in QC—the day and date wheels must sit square in their apertures. The bracelet taper matters too, from wider centre links to narrower end links, where our photography picks up any misalignment on the lugs.
On the wrist
At 36mm, the Day-Date sits compact and formal. It weighs enough to feel present without bulk, suited equally to dress or business wear. This version leans toward professional dress, lighter in tone than the yellow gold and white gold siblings. Compare it with the chocolate dial 228235 for a warmer take, or the 228238 in silver for a side-by-side in the same material.
