What the Historiques are
Historiques is Vacheron Constantin's collection drawing from the archives, translating vintage designs into modern production. The watches are elegant, proportioned for dress and conversation rather than sport. The two clones we carry represent different material choices within the same family: one in gold, one in steel, both with automatic movements. They reflect a philosophy of restraint and classical refinement.
Our two Historiques clones
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 is the gold variant, 37mm and dressed for formal occasions. The 4200H/222A-B934 is the steel version, same 37mm diameter but with a more versatile metal and everyday sensibility. Both carry the same dial design and movement specification, differing chiefly in case material and colour.
QC inspection: dial symmetry and case finish
On dress watches, dial alignment is paramount. We photograph straight-on to ensure all indices are evenly spaced and truly vertical. The Historiques dial often features a printed sub-seconds register or small subsidiary dial; this must sit perfectly centred. On the gold variant, we check for plating consistency—no base metal showing through at the lugs or bezel. On the steel version, the case finishing (polished surfaces, brushed sides) must be even and professional. The bracelet endlink fit is critical; it must seat flush to the case without gaps or rocking.
Choosing between gold and steel
The gold Historiques 222 is a statement piece, warm and formal. The steel 4200H/222A-B934 is the practical choice for daily wear, equally elegant but less precious-metal visible. Your occasion and wrist preference determine the pick. Both sit at the same compact 37mm, making them dress watches first and foremost.
