What the Calatrava is
The Calatrava is Patek Philippe's signature dress watch, one of the oldest and most recognisable designs in watchmaking. It is spare—no complications, no flashiness. The case is round and polished, the bezel simple, the dial clean with applied markers and a centre seconds hand. The name comes from a Mudejar cross symbol used as the Patek Philippe logo. It wears smaller than it measures and sits slim on the wrist.
Our seven versions in stainless steel with Japanese Miyota
We carry Calatrava references in stainless steel, each with a Swiss-grade or a Japanese Miyota automatic movement. The 5227G-001 is 39 mm with black dial. The 6007A in standard trim is 40 mm stainless. The 6007G-011 is 42 mm. The remaining 6007A variants are 40 mm with dial choices: ebony black, white, and black Tiffany. All share movement and price; case size and dial colour are your main choice.
What we check in photographs
When we QC a Calatrava, we examine the case for that signature polished finish and the perfect proportions—the case should look spare and elegant. We check the dial centre and all applied markers for alignment and clarity. We verify the lume application on hands and markers is even and consistent. We photograph the case from multiple angles to ensure the lugs and case transitions are correct. We inspect the bracelet end links and the clasp. The dial print, if any, must be sharp. The bezel fit is critical—it should be tight and even.
Choosing your Calatrava and ordering
Choose by case size: 39 mm is the most vintage proportion, 40 mm is contemporary standard, 42 mm is larger and more modern. Dial colour is personal—black is classic, white is formal, Tiffany blue is distinctive.
