The movement is automatic, so the seconds hand sweeps rather than ticks and the watch winds itself as you wear it. The case is stainless steel, finished by hand — brushed surfaces stay brushed and polished edges keep a clean line. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 50 m water resistance for daily wear.

What exactly is a sundust dial finish?
Sundust is a textured, matte coating that scatters light evenly across the dial, creating a subtle sheen without visible brushing or grain. It is more sophisticated than a plain polished dial and less flashy than a sunburst.
Can I wear this to formal events?
Absolutely. The 28mm Datejust in steel is a formal-casual classic, equally appropriate for a dinner or a business meeting. The sundust finish adds modern sophistication to a timeless design.
How durable is the dial finish?
The sundust coating is applied to the dial and cured; it does not wear off with normal wear. Severe scratching from a sharp object could damage it, but it is resistant to daily moisture and fingerprints.
Does this reference come in other dial colours?
The 279171-0021 is unique to the sundust finish. Our Datejust 279173 offers champagne instead. We also stock the mother-of-pearl 279383RBR if you want something with more luminosity.

We source a 28mm steel case in 904L with a sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating. The sundust dial has a textured, matte finish that absorbs light evenly, distinct from a plain polished dial. The automatic movement stores power for roughly 48 hours. In QC photographs, we verify the dial finish is even (no light spots or scratches), the date window is centred and reads clearly, and the hands are perfectly aligned.

At 28mm, this is unquestionably feminine in proportion—elegant and refined on the wrist. The sundust finish gives it a contemporary feel while honouring the classic Datejust design. If you prefer sparkle, our diamond-set 279383RBR adds glamour; for a champagne tone, try the 279173 instead.
