The movement is automatic, so the seconds hand sweeps rather than ticks and the watch winds itself as you wear it. The case is stainless steel, finished by hand — brushed surfaces stay brushed and polished edges keep a clean line. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 50 m water resistance for daily wear.

What is the difference between Day-Date and Day-Date II?
Primarily size and generation. Day-Date II models are larger (40–41mm) and incorporate modern materials and movements. The complication and prestige are identical; size and styling differ.
Does the 41mm feel bulky on average wrists?
Not for most men. Wrists 7–8 inches wear it well. Above 8 inches it looks proportionate; below 7 inches it may feel prominent. Individual preference varies; try one if possible.
Is the day window abbreviated or full day names?
Full weekday names appear in the day window—Monday, Tuesday, etc.—not abbreviated. This makes the watch more readable and immediately functional. QC photos confirm the clarity.
Can I request a smaller version—is 40mm available?
Yes. The Rolex 228238-0007 is 40mm with the same steel and day-date setup. Choose based on your wrist size and preference for presence.

The Day-Date II at 41mm in stainless steel is the largest modern day-date variant—commanding presence, full-sized masculine proportions. The day-date complication on a sports-sized case feels robust and contemporary, refusing to whisper.
