Is ceramic harder to resize or repair than steel?
Ceramic requires specialist equipment and expertise. A standard watchmaker may not be equipped for ceramic work. Damage or scratches typically require the manufacturer or specialist ceramic watch service, which is rarer than steel services.
Will the ceramic scratch easily, or is it truly scratch-resistant?
Ceramic is harder than steel and resists scratches from normal wear remarkably well. However, ceramic is brittle—a hard impact can cause chipping rather than deformation. Treat it as a delicate material despite its hardness.
How does ceramic compare to steel in weight?
Ceramic is slightly lighter than steel at the same volume. You may notice the ceramic Offshore feels marginally lighter on the wrist, though the 44mm case size keeps it substantial.
