The movement is automatic, so the seconds hand sweeps rather than ticks and the watch winds itself as you wear it. The case is stainless steel, finished by hand — brushed surfaces stay brushed and polished edges keep a clean line. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 50 m water resistance for daily wear.

Does a 42mm Offshore wear as large as it measures?
Yes. 42mm is noticeably larger than dress sports watches. It fills the wrist well for anyone with average to large hands. Smaller wrists may find it imposing at first.
Are the octagon edges sharp or rounded on the bezel?
They have a subtle radius—not razor-sharp, but defined. The transition from top surface to vertical edge is crisp, not bevelled. This is how they finish from the factory.
What makes the Offshore different from the standard Royal Oak?
Larger case (42mm versus 37mm), bolder dial, and in many versions, chronograph complications. This automatic version skips the chronograph but keeps the aggressive case presence.
Is the movement too simple for a £1599 watch?
The movement is solid. Our focus is on case finishing, dial quality, and overall assembly. The automatic is reliable and maintains the case's wearability without adding complex complications.

What the Royal Oak Offshore is
Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Offshore is the larger, bolder sibling of the standard Royal Oak—a sport watch designed for serious collectors who want unmistakable wrist presence. At 42mm in stainless steel, it reads as pure instrument. The Offshore line spans many dial colours and complications; this version is a straightforward automatic, making it an entry point to the family.
How our clone follows it
We inspect the octagon bezel proportions, the dial finish (if present) alignment, and the case finishing—brushed and polished sections should sit crisply against each other. Stainless steel with sapphire crystal. The movement is automatic, approximately 48 hours reserve. Water resistance is daily-wear rated.
