The movement is automatic, so the seconds hand sweeps rather than ticks and the watch winds itself as you wear it. What is a Jubilee bracelet and why is it iconic?
The Jubilee bracelet features nine vertical links per section, creating a distinctive geometric pattern. It was designed to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee in 1977 and has become one of the most copied bracelet designs in watchmaking. The Jubilee is more formal than the Oyster and sits slightly looser on the wrist, allowing subtle natural movement and flex.
Does chocolate dial show scratches more readily than black or silver?
Light dials show dust; dark dials show dust equally. Chocolate is a mid-tone brown, so it does not amplify dust or scratches more than other colours. The sapphire crystal protects the dial completely from scratching or marking. Dust on the crystal is harmless and easily wiped away with a microfibre cloth.
How does a 36mm case feel on a larger wrist?
A 36mm case is the classic Datejust size and is proportionate on wrists up to 7.5 inches. On larger wrists (above 7.5 inches), it may appear small or delicate. The refined aesthetic appeals to people who value elegance over presence, regardless of wrist size. Many large-wrist owners prefer 36mm for the sophistication it conveys.
Is the diamond dial applied or printed onto the surface?
Diamond dials use applied diamond indices—small diamond studs physically set on the dial surface. These are glued or pressed into recesses cut into the dial base. The application is precise; any gaps, misalignment or loose stones would be visible in QC photographs. Quality control for diamond dials is particularly strict because loose diamonds pose a risk during shipping.
