What makes the Nautilus dial catch light that way?
The dial has a brushed finish with subtle ribbing that creates a shimmering effect. Light bounces off the ridges, making the dial look textured and three-dimensional. It's one of the most distinctive features of the design.
Is the this size Nautilus too small by modern standards?
No. Forty millimetres is the original Nautilus size and remains ideal for most wrists. The integrated bracelet makes it wear larger than the case diameter suggests. Many prefer this to the newer, larger Nautilus models.
Can I dive with the Nautilus?
No. Water resistance is approximately 50 metres—hand-washing and light rain only. The integrated case is not screw-down, so deep water will seep in. It's a sports watch, not a dive instrument.
How smooth should the bracelet feel?
The integrated bracelet should move with no side-to-side play at the lugs. The links should articulate smoothly with a slight resistance that prevents loose rattling. Smoothness improves slightly with regular wear.
